Appointments Information

New Appointment Procedure

The surgery is constantly looking for ways to improve the service we offer, and maintain the services safety for our staff and patients. Because of this, we have made some changes to the way that our appointment system works. These changes are now in effect.

The surgery will continue to offer a total triage system, and clinical cases will be reviewed by the assigned clinician before a face to face is booked. They may need to phone you to determine what type of appointment is needed. Please be assured, if the clinician feels it’s necessary to come down to the surgery, this will be booked. A total triage system means that there are physically less people in the surgery, however the clinicians are still working to their full capacity.

askmyGP will be open in the following time schedule:
Monday – 8.00am-12.00pm
Tuesday – 8.00am-12.00pm
Wednesday – 8.00am-12.00pm
Thursday – 8.00am-12.00pm
Friday – 8.00am-12.00pm

We would ask that all clinical matters needing same day attention are put through askmyGP in this way, before 12 o clock. If there is an emergency matter that cannot wait until the following day, please contact the surgery by phone. If you are not able to access askmyGP, please phone the surgery to arrange an appointment for any matter.

We have implemented the ability to submit requests for routine matters 24/7. This can be used for the following matters:

  • Prescriptions Requests and queries
  • Nurse Appointment
  • Vaccination Requests
  • Health check appointments
  • Long Term Condition Appointments
  • Blood Test Appointments
  • Cervical Screening Requests
  • Routine Contraception Reviews
  • Referral and Hospital Queries
  • Patients forms and Private Letters/Medicals
  • Online Access Requests
  • Sick Notes/Med3’s
  • Results

These will be accessed through forms on the askmyGP front page. These can be submitted at any time but will not be monitored at all times by the surgery team.

These forms should only be used for routine matters, and any clinical requests put through in this way, will not be acted upon.

Any clinical matters requested in this way will be closed automatically.

**Please submit clinical requests when AskmyGP is open, or if your matter is urgent, please contact us or 111 by phone**

We use a system called askmyGP which is an easy and fast way to ask for any kind of help from the practice.

  • Available 24/7 and we respond during working hours Monday to Friday
  • You can request a particular doctor or nurse (so long as they’re working)
  • You can choose to be contacted by the surgery by telephone, secure message or video call
  • If we need to see you we will usually give you a face-to-face or video appointment the same day
  • Video consultations are provided by our own doctors through a secure link to your mobile, tablet or laptop for no extra charge
  • You can register for askmyGP now, without any paperwork

askmyGP is available to all our patients, and you can use it to ask about your children or other people you care for (if they are registered with us).

That’s it – simple and straightforward!

We are encouraging everyone who has access to a computer, smart phone or tablet to use askmyGP:

  • it saves you time
  • really ill patients don’t have to wait for urgent slots at the end of surgeries
  • GPs can manage their time more effectively, booking any follow-up appointments you might need and,
  • it stops the 8am rush for appointments as you can contact the practice at any time, and up to 5pm get a response, and be seen if needed the same day!

Contacting the Surgery

If you prefer to phone, one of our receptionists will take a few details about your problem or request and then pass these to the GP. However you choose to get in touch, your GP will get contact you quickly and either sort out your problem on the phone, by secure message, or arrange to see you the same day, or another day if that’s more convenient.

Non-urgent advice: Dental Problems

The Doctors do not see dental problems.

Please book an appointment with your dentist or find a dentist near you: NHS Find Dentist Services

For urgent dental care please visit Cambridgeshire Community Services.

Home visits

Please only ask for a Home Visit if you are unable to attend the surgery due to illness or infirmity.

When you or your carer telephones the surgery to request a Home Visit the receptionist will ask for a brief description of the problem, and send the request to the doctor.

The doctor will then telephone you to give you advice or resolve the situation over the telephone or arrange a time to visit you.
